Question:
How does Game Share work?
Answer:
It's really simple. You add your games that you would like to swap to your "My Games" list and the games you would like to receive to your "Wish List". Then you use the "Offers" page to make and/or accept offers with other members. Once a swap offer has been accepted, both swappers send their games to Game Share. The games are inspected and tested and then sent back out to thier new owners. You're charged 1 swap credit for each game swapped. Click here to read more information about how Game Share works.
Question:
Once the offer is accepted who sends there game first?
Answer:
There is no set routine for who sends their game first and if they don't send their game you get your game back and your credit refunded. After 10 days, if your game has not been received by Game Share, you have the option to cancel the swap and you are refunded your credit.
Question:
How will you know my address to send the game to?
Answer:
You have to fill in your address on the profile page.
Question:
What happens if my game goes missing in the post or someone makes a fruadulent claim that they haven't recieved a game. Who is going to bare the cost of the lost game?
Answer:
We will send games via 1st class post (1-2 days) and will always obtain proof of posting. If a game sent out by Game Share is lost in the postal system Game Share will make the compensation claim to Royal Mail. The Game Share member's name and address will be given to Royal Mail as part of the compensation claim process. Compensation is limited to £32 or the market value of the item, whichever is lower. The member will be contacted by Royal Mail via letter to confirm that the item was not received. Items are not considered lost by Royal Mail until 10 days after the expected delivery date. False claims for compensation can result in criminal prosecution of the receiver (Member), NOT the sender (Game Share). You can view the compensation form in PDF format by clicking here.
Quoted from the Royal Mail Website "Compensation of up to £32 for loss or damage, with your free certificate of posting (available from your local Post Office when you post your mail)". Click this link to read it yourself on the Royal Mail website.
Game Share cannot accept any liablity for games sent by members that are lost in the postal system. Of course for added security you can send the games to us using recorded/signed for, but this costs an extra 70p on top of the normal 70p charge to send a game first class.
Question:
How long does it take for games to reach you?
Answer:
It depends what postage you use. Second class will take 1-3 days (60p), first class should take 1-2 days (70p), special delivery should be next day (£4.50+). These amounts always apply to a single game in a size 1 jiffy bag and they class as a large letter, NOT a package. Don't let your post office charge you more, it's not necessary.
Question:
How long does it take to process a swap?
Answer:
It depends on a few factors. Firstly, we must have received all games in the swap before preocessing can begin. Secondly, all swappers involved must have entered their postal address information in their profile. Lastly, all swaps are sent via first class franked post and they normally arrive next day, but we ask you to allow up to 3 days for the game to reach you to reach you.
Question:
Are all these games tested?
Answer:
All games are inspected and if they appear to be scratched they're tested. Our terms and conditions clearly state that the game may be cosmetically imperfect in terms of packaging, but must be in working order. If we receive a game and it doesn't work the game will not be returned to you. All other working games involved in the swap will be returned to their owners.
Question:
Can I indicate the condition of my game?
Answer:
You can enter the condition of your game on the My Swaps -> My Games page by clicking on the
icon next to any of your games. You will then be able to select from various predefined conditions.Note: Entering your games physical condition has been shown to increase the chance of your offer being accepted by 30%.
Question:
How do I get more swap credits?
Answer:
You will either need to upgrade to a Gold membership or purchase more credits. To upgrade visit My Accounts -> upgrade account. Gold membership costs just £5 and for that you get lifetime membership and 5 credits. 5 credits can give you a maximum of 5 individual swaps.
If you already have a Gold membership you can top up your credits at any time via My Accounts -> add credits.
NOTE: The amount that a swap costs increases if you offer multiple games in a single swap or opt for recorded delivery. Some games cost more than 1 credit depending on size and weight.
